Years go by, trends fade and musical paradigms shift, yet the dark waters of post-punk are still home to those who continue to wade in them with conviction, especially in places like Manchester, the historic birthplace of this shadowy, distorted strain of rock. Hailing from the same city that gave the world bands such as The Chameleons, Magazine and, of course, Joy Division, IST IST are a quartet that has now spent more than a decade forging its own path through its independent label, Kind Violence Records.
With five albums to their name, Adam Houghton, Andy Keating, Joel Kay and Mat Peters have built a career defined by the constant interplay between guitars and synthesizers: sometimes one takes the lead, sometimes the other, but the true winner is always a deep appreciation for the sound of the eighties, delivered with authenticity and precision. This autumn, IST IST will present “DAGGER”, their latest album.
Presented by Primavera Tours.
