Colombian artist Lido Pimienta will perform on November 2 at Sala Upload in Barcelona as part of a tour she has named “La Belleza Caribenya”.
“Caribenya”, an eight-track album, is described by Lido as a joyful project rooted in resistance, cultural reconnection and collective celebration. It seeks to decolonise traditional sounds while embracing a global vision infused with Caribbean essence. “Someone once told me that making a classical music album would be impossible for me, like ‘only Europeans could do something like that’, and with ‘La belleza’ I proved otherwise. ‘Caribenya’ is the counterpart to that — a place where I’m less cerebral and there’s more fun,” she has said. As for the album’s title, it combines the words Caribbean and Enya, reflecting Lido’s admiration for the Irish singer and composer.
