Some bands simply play concerts. And then there’s Yawning Man, one of those bands capable of turning a stage into a landscape.
Pioneers of the Palm Desert desert rock scene, Yawning Man have been developing a sound entirely their own since the 1980s: hypnotic guitars, deep grooves, psychedelia, surf, jazz, krautrock and cinematic soundscapes that seem to drift slowly down a deserted highway in the middle of nowhere. Instrumental, immersive and physical music that has had a profound influence on the entire scene that followed.
This time they are joined by SoftSun, the project led by Yawning Man guitarist and founder Gary Arce alongside Norwegian musician Pia Isaksen. An equally atmospheric and psychedelic proposition, but one that ventures into darker, more ethereal territory, closer to shoegaze. A combination of beauty, distortion, space and emotion.
Two bands, two sides of the same universe.
